Perplexity product feed: what is published, and what everyone else invented
Last reviewed
Short answer
Perplexity has not published a product feed field specification. The field lists in circulation are the Google Merchant Center spec relabelled. Perplexity's only primary description of merchant data is its 2024 launch blog, and the documented way in is an interest form rather than a feed upload.
The short version
If you came here looking for a table of required fields for a Perplexity feed, we cannot honestly give you one, and neither can anyone else. We checked Perplexity's documentation, its launch announcement and its merchant programme materials on 23 August 2026. No field specification is published anywhere.
Guides that list id, title, description, link, image_link, price, availability and GTIN as Perplexity's requirements are printing the Google Merchant Center specification with the name changed. That may well be close to right, since Google's spec is the de facto shape of every product feed. It is still not something Perplexity has said.
What Perplexity has actually said
One primary source exists, the Shop like a Pro announcement of 18 November 2024. It describes the merchant programme as free, aimed at making it easy for large retailers to share their product specs, and lists four benefits: inclusion in the product index, payment integrations for Buy with Pro checkout, free API access, and a custom dashboard covering search and shopping trends.
It also says the programme is distinct from and unrelated to Perplexity's sponsored question ad products. That is the whole of the primary record. There is no schema, no field table, no file format requirement and no update cadence in it.
The state of the programme, as of August 2026
Worth knowing before you spend an afternoon on this. The interest form is live and still accepting submissions, so the programme has not been closed. But the terms of service page Perplexity used to publish for the merchant programme now returns a not-found error, and the launch blog is coming up on two years old with no follow-up announcement.
The launch post also says twice that the programme is for large retailers. Read plainly, that is an enterprise partnership pipeline rather than a self-serve feed channel, which is consistent with the absence of a published spec. If nobody can upload a feed unassisted, nobody needs the spec.
- Interest form: live, five questions, checked 23 August 2026
- Merchant programme terms of service: returns not found, checked 23 August 2026
- Last primary announcement: 18 November 2024
- Stated audience: large retailers, said twice in the launch post
What a Shopify store should do instead
This is the part the other guides bury. Perplexity's own launch post says the shopping experience is powered by platform integrations including Shopify, giving access to Shopify-powered businesses globally that sell and ship to the US.
So for a Shopify merchant the primary path into Perplexity was never the merchant programme. It is the Shopify integration, which you are in by default, plus being crawlable by PerplexityBot. Both of those are things you can act on today, and neither requires a form or a reply. The crawler side is here.
So is the form worth filling in
Probably, because it costs two minutes and there is no downside. Treat it as a lottery ticket rather than a project, and do not restructure your product data around a specification that does not exist.
The work that pays either way is the same work: complete, attribute-rich titles and descriptions that meet the rules the surfaces do publish. That data is what Shopify syndicates, what PerplexityBot reads on your pages, and what you would send if a feed spec ever appears.
Frequently asked questions
What fields does a Perplexity product feed require?
Perplexity has not published a field specification. Lists of required fields in circulation are taken from the Google Merchant Center specification rather than from Perplexity, so treat them as an educated guess and not as a requirement.
How do I submit a product feed to Perplexity?
There is no self-serve feed upload. The documented route is a five-question interest form, after which Perplexity contacts merchants it wants to work with. The launch announcement describes the programme as aimed at large retailers.
Is the Perplexity merchant program still running?
The interest form was live and accepting submissions when we checked on 23 August 2026. The merchant programme terms of service page returns a not-found error and the last announcement was November 2024, so it is open but quiet.
Can Shopify stores get into Perplexity without the merchant program?
Yes. Perplexity's launch post states the shopping experience is powered by platform integrations including Shopify, covering Shopify businesses globally that sell and ship to the US. Being crawlable by PerplexityBot is the other half.
